Getting armour by RP: strange prices
Since the new Zaishen Key title track prices of the Zaishen keys have gone up. At the moment keys sell for one Ecto so or 5k per key. This basically means that if you want to buy obsidian armour (cost: 90 Ecto and 75K (which is about 525k)) you will have to sell about 105 keys (90+15). This costs you 525 reward points.
While when you would unlock obsidian armour, you would have to unlock access fancy armor too. by This costs 20x50RP, so 500 this costs 1000 RP (= almost enough money for an obsidian set). Then you get to unlock your obsidian set for 200 RP per piece of armour. This costs 5x200RP, so this costs another 1000 RP.
The total costs for unlocking are: 2000RP. Now if you sell keys for 5k each, you can make 2 million gold. While if you sell the keys you only need 525 reward points. This means buying it on your PvE is (2000-525=)1675 RP or 1675K cheaper.
Now there’s a couple of downsides to being a PvE over PvP, but these are composed since you make a lot of money:
- You need to do a few missions to get acces to UW/FoW for buying your armour. But you can probably do this while sleeping by getting runners.
- You need to buy a lot of tomes/skills, but I suppose the 1675k can cover for this.
Now these downsides are definitly worth 1675k.
Can anyone please explain me these numbers?
Thnx to Bla Die Rt for helping with writing this.

It means that the Guild Wars economy sucks. Go figure.
But we knew that already.

you kinda forgot your obby shards and other mats, still not to big a difference. when I summed it all up it was ~625k
one of the pros to PvP unlock armor is that you can swap all your runes and such at your whim, without the cash expense. I am also guessing that zaishen keys wont stay at 5k. like all things they will depreciate, and it will be sad, and many ppl will QQ XD

along with the runes, there's also the weaponsets with different types of mods. this also applies with your heroes as well (if you do hero battles or other forms of pvp with heroes).

who cares ? honestly, if you buy obsidian for one of your PvP toons, it's because you can. PvPers don't need infinite amounts of cash, and RP's come in at a decent rate if you're in an active (sub)topguild.
I payed close to 3 mill for my warrior obsidian back in august/september 2005, because i could afford it.
Besides, you forgot a few things :
the unlocks up front aren't inherent to getting the armor, if you get multiple fancy armorsets there is only one unlock "price" (1000RP). So taking obsidian costs around 600k now (according to Arv), and i guess that's for a 4-pieces obsidian, that equals 800RP, or roughly 800k.
So for 200k you get :
- access to each and every skill (taking you're UAX). This alone is easely worth 200k
- access to each and every weapon mod and inscription, with the possibility to upgrade the skin if you want.
- access to each and every rune and insignia
- being able to adjust all of the above on the fly with 0 cash investment.
seems like a pretty good deal imo

It's a different currency. If I go to Mexico, I'm going to be able to buy a lot more with their Peso's then I would in America, the quality may be worse, but everything's cheaper. If I go to England, I'm going to be able to buy less with their Euros than I would in America, the quality MAY be better, but everything's expensive.

On a sidenote, England still uses their Pound Sterling (£) and not the Euro (€), but a Pound is even more expensive than a Euro, so your point is still valid

Well the main point is that it takes 1000RP to unlock fancy armour in the first place. Which can be 1million $$ in zaishen keys.

yes i do agree with you there that if you have all the money in the world you will not care, but i think that if you as a player do care about 1 mil gold then it might be wise to take a pve car.
